Ascension Hospitality Management Association

The Ascension Hospitality Management Association (AHMA) is the premier association for owners, managers, and supporters of the hospitality and tourism industries. Founded in January of 2016, the mission of the AHMA is to create a unified hospitality and tourism industry through business partnerships, collaboration, continuing education, networking, and social responsibility.

The AHMA membership is open to individuals and organizations who serve the hospitality and tourism industry, support economic development through the industry, and allied partners that desire to further the mission and purposes of the industry and the association. Dues are charged annually and are set by the volunteer board of directors. AHMA is managed by a professional association management firm.

AHMA will serve its members and their employees and partners by offering continuing education, professional networking, public policy, industry promotion, and community and social responsibility programs in the forms of monthly luncheons, workshops, employee recognition events, social events, fundraisers, joint industry meetings, advocacy programs, and community events.

The AHMA Board of Directors creates an annual strategic plan that aligns with feedback from its representative stakeholders in the hospitality and tourism industry which outlines special issues relating to the industry that require executive level thought leadership, organizational strategy, and measured outcomes. Special issues committees meet regularly to overcome obstacles such as occupancy rates, ADRs, tour and travel market segmentation, community, regional and national events, transportation, traffic, signage, industry and employee recruitment and retention, and economic development.

Improving standards through better performance to create unforgettable world-class service and southern hospitality is the mission of the AHMA continuing education program. The program includes continuing education and development programs focused on guest service level, sales and marketing, and operational leadership / management team members. Most programs are free to members. The AHMA Operational Leadership Program has a fee and is open annually to member nominees.

To assist in promoting partnerships in the industry AHMA offers annual sponsorships to support programming, member development, and scholarships offered to member employees and their children.
