This session will focus on creating a clear case for support and producing a plan and process for raising the dollars needed to succeed. Participants will work on their case for support during the session. They’ll also begin a simple fund development plan and learn strategies and tactics for fundraising. The training will highlight successful fundraising practices from around the nation.

This session's presenter will be Dr. Cory Sparks.
Cory directs LANO's Institute for Nonprofit Excellence (est. 2013), a statewide resource for improving the practice and sustainability of nonprofit organizations. Locally, Cory is a leader of LANO's efforts in the Greater New Orleans area to expand and strengthen our service to hundreds of regional nonprofits.
Most recently the pastor of Faith Community United Methodist Church, in Lafayette, Dr. Sparks has longtime ties to New Orleans, both within the faith-based community and in higher education. He brings years of executive leadership experience to this position, with demonstrated excellence as a public speaker, educator, fund raiser, and a community activist and organizer. Dr. Sparks holds degrees from Columbia University, Southern Methodist University and a Doctorate in American History from Louisiana State University. Dr. Sparks's board leadership includes a current position on the Board of Directors for the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), New Orleans Chapter.
